Agribusiness

We invest in the local processing of agricultural and forestry output, where too much added value still leaves the continent in raw form.

900
farmers under contract

Agribusiness is where our requirement of economic usefulness expresses itself most directly. Exporting a raw material creates few jobs; processing it on site creates many, and captures a far greater share of the final value.

Our investments target processing units backed by secured production — owned land or long-term supply contracts — and the outgrower programmes that structure the upstream.

We pay particular attention to supply chain certification: it governs access to European markets and is, over time, the main driver of value for these assets.

What we do

  • Integrated production

Large irrigated farms combined with storage and packing facilities.

  • Processing

Primary and secondary processing units — grain, oilseeds, timber — located close to production.

  • Outgrower schemes

Programmes structuring supply from independent farmers, with technical support and pre-financing of inputs.

  • Certified supply chains

Support in achieving the certifications required by export markets (FSC, GlobalGAP).
